$75 Home Makeover Challenge: Here's How I'd Do Mine

A couple weeks ago, I teamed up with my friend, Susan, to spruce up my wall with a gorgeous floral peel-and-stick wallpaper.

And boy, was it fun! Even though we had to enlist the help of my husband, Kevin, to finish the job for us, we had a blast adding a touch of new!

It got me thinking, how dramatically could you transform your house with just $75? There are so many low-cost, DIY hacks available now to make the home you’re living in feel like something entirely new.

So, I’d like to challenge my newsletter crew to try it! I want to see what magic you can work with a wad of $75, a little creativity and a quick trip to the store.

I started thinking about what I would do if I took on this challenge myself. Here's my plan:

Step 1: Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper Over One Wall

I’ve already got one item down! This eye-catching sticker went up in my entrance hall. If you’re tall like Kevin, it’ll go up easy lol! Mess-free, and if I get tired of it, I can peel it right back off.

Rough cost: $35-$45 for one wall

Step 2: New Hardware on the Cabinets

Next, I'd swap out the old cabinet knobs in my kitchen for something new. This is one of those little changes that makes a huge difference. Brass, black, or something with a little farmhouse charm, it doesn't matter. New knobs make old cabinets feel brand new again.

Rough cost: $20-$25 for a small set

Step 3: Self-Adhesive Stained Glass

We all love those gorgeous, original stained glass windows floating around Northern Kentucky. But if you’ve got a newly-built home like me, you’ll have to go searching for ‘em. I’d pop one of these self-adhesive stained glass stickers in my bathroom for a little added privacy: a luxury look for a fraction of the cost.

Rough cost: $10-$15 for a small window

Total: About $75, give or take a few dollars depending on where you shop!

Why I Love This Challenge

Here's the thing. You don't need a big budget or a big project to fall back in love with your home. Sometimes all it takes is one wall, one drawer pull, or one plant by the front door to make a space feel new again.

And honestly? In times like these, a little joy at home goes a long way.
