On Thursday, March 26, nearly 40 people attended the first event in my spring Lunch and Learn series, which I am proud to sponsor and host in collaboration with the Independence Senior Center. This first session, titled “Where to Start,” was designed to help seniors, caregivers, and family members understand what to do when care needs begin to change.

To offer a well-rounded view, we brought together six trusted organizations from Northern Kentucky including:

Each group shared helpful information about the services they provide, including in-home care, daily support, and guidance for long-term planning.

Together, these experts helped break down a process that can often feel confusing and overwhelming. Many attendees came in unsure of where to begin, but left with a clearer understanding of their options and the steps they can take next. The goal of this session was to replace uncertainty with confidence and to make sure no one feels alone when facing these decisions.

The series continues on April 23 at the Independence Senior Center. This session will feature representatives from local senior living communities who will discuss different types of living options, levels of care, amenities, and the costs involved.

Our final Lunch and Learn will take place on June 18 and will focus on important legal topics, including wills and estate planning, helping attendees plan for the future with greater peace of mind.

All sessions are on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Want to discuss anything we’re talking about in these sessions? Get in touch at 859-468-2730 or shellistinsonrealestate@gmail.com.

This new journey is deeply personal, spurred out of my own changes with my parents the past few years. I’m so excited to now be a certified Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) to help families simplify transitions.
